After hosting Illinois Senator Steve McClure and Congressman Mike Bost for previous Chairman’s Corners, Effingham County Board Chairman, Josh Douthit, invited Senator Chapin Rose to present at the Chairman’s Corner on Thursday, August 29, 2024.

Senator Rose shared his history and background as a prosecutor for Champaign County prior to being elected Illinois State Senator for the 51st District.  Senator Rose stated his history as a prosecutor as well as his current involvement in commercial real estate have been helpful in his role as Senator in pushing the key topics that are important to his district and many other downstate Illinois residents.

Senator Rose spoke with Effingham County elected officials and department heads regarding some issues that have been impacting Effingham County such as interstate roadway construction, local roadway and bridge maintenance, transportation for downstate drug court participants, the Safe-T Act, while also touching a little on topics such as the Illinois state budget and immigration.

Senator Rose elaborated on his efforts in pioneering Illinois state financial assistance in local roadway maintenance during Illinois state roadway construction as well as his efforts in transportation for drug court participants.  He expressed an appreciation for drug court and the good it can do in turning lives around.  Senator Rose stated he just recently met with Effingham County Public Transportation (ECPT) and Central Illinois Public Transportation (CIPT) to assist in efforts to eliminate barriers in transportation for drug court participants in Effingham and surrounding counties.

The Chairman’s Corner was closed with a question and answer session in which Senator Rose entertained questions presented by Greg Koester, Effingham County Highway Engineer, and Chief Buhnerkempe.

Senator Rose can be contacted at one of his four district offices located in Champaign, Mattoon, Robinson, and Danville or his state capital office in Springfield.
