Effingham County students attend Law Day 2026


Thursday, May 7, 2026, Effingham County celebrated Law Day 2026.  The day consisted of a welcome and introduction presented by Judge Bryan Kibler.  This was followed by a tour of the tunnel from the Government Center to the County Building and tour of the jail.  Students  were then bused to Accuracy Fire Arms Shooting Range for a Fire Arms & Range Safety Class with Range Practical and lunch at the Elks Lodge 1016. The students wrapped up their experience job shadowing with various local elected officials including the Sheriff’s Office, County Clerk, Circuit Clerk, Coroner, State’s Attorney and a farewell presented by County Board Chairman, Josh Douthit.

Participating students from Dieterich were Brock Niemerg, Dominic Ashley, Carson Baxter, Andrew Hall, and Gaddison Goeckner.  Participating students from Altamont were Krista Hall, Ben Osterholtz, Spike Pearcy, Ellie Flack, Christina Cottingham.  And participating students from Teutopolis were Lauryn Shue, Josie Willenborg, Lucy Bloemer, Molly Manuel, Kaelyn Ordner, and Michael Habing.

Effingham County would like to express gratitude to Effingham Unit 40 for providing a bus for the event, Accuracy Firearms, the Elks Lodge 1016, and participating students and faculty of Altamont, Beecher City, Dieterich, and Teutopolis schools along with all Effingham County elected officials including Judge Kibler in helping to make this another successful Law Day.
