Effingham County Regional Airport ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled
The Airport Commission of Effingham County announced that they will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony for the runway extension on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 11am.
The Airport Commission worked diligently with Hanson Professional Services, Inc., the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the Illinois Division of Aeronautics on a runway extension for the Effingham County Regional Airport following a ground breaking ceremony on September 4, 2024. The project had received funding via the Rebuild Illinois Program and was officially approved by the FAA in December 6, 2023 through a letter describing the project as an extension of the primary east-west Runway 11-29 by 898 feet to the southeast and an extension of parallel Taxiway A to the extended Runway 29.
The Airport Commission would like to extend an invitation to the public to join them in celebrating this completed phase for the Effingham County Regional Airport.
