Severe Storm Spotter Training in Effingham
EFFINGHAM, IL. – EFFINGHAM COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (ECEMA) in collaboration with the National Weather Service in Lincoln will be holding a Severe Storm Spotter Training Class on Tuesday, March 10, at 6:30 p.m. in the Effingham County Emergency Operations Center, at 311 Miracle Avenue, Effingham.
During the session, participants will learn the characteristics of severe thunderstorms and other associated threats, severe weather-relevant cloud formations, and weather safety practices.
Participants will also learn how they can be a National Weather Service SKYWARN volunteer and help keep our community safe, by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather directly to the National Weather Service.
Participants should note:
- Training lasts about 2 hours.
- The class is free and open to the public.
- The class is appropriate for all ages. Ages 10 and up will likely get the most out of the training, but only people ages 18 and older will be considered storm spotters.
- Pre-registration is NOT required
