National Weather Service Weather Spotter Training


Severe Storm Spotter training in Altamont!

Altamont Fire Protection District would like to invite you to join their partnership with the National Weather Service in Lincoln to help keep their community safe and sound during severe storms.

During this training, you will learn how to spot the danger signs of severe weather to keep yourself and your family safe.

You will also learn how you can be a National Weather Service SKYWARN volunteer and help keep your community safe by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather directly to the National Weather Service.

Date: January 26th

Location: Carriage House Event Center, 8 West Carriage Lane, Altamont, IL

Time: 6 PM

  • Training lasts about 2 hours.
  • Free and open to the public.
  • Appropriate for all ages. Ages 10 and up will likely get the most out of the training.
  • Pre-registration is NOT required
